At Farming and Health Education (FHE), the start of 2026 has been defined by one thing: resilience in action.

Across Kakuma and Kalobeyei, our programs continue to demonstrate that when communities are equipped with the right knowledge, tools, and support systems, transformation becomes inevitable.
A Snapshot of Our Impact.

In just two months, we have reached and empowered hundreds:

  • 📚 120 children enrolled in education programs (up from 80)

  • 🤱 408 mothers engaged in Nurture+ Kakuma is its holistic approach—integrating maternal health education, psychosocial support, and hands-on learning.

  • 👶 538 mothers supported through Pregnancy-to-First-Year health care Awareness

  • 59 youth engaging in Nutrition and Reproductive Proffessional certifacate

  • 🌾 68% training participation in regenerative agriculture

  • 🧠 Significant improvements in social-emotional learning outcomes

Behind these numbers are real stories—of mothers rebuilding confidence, children rediscovering joy in learning, and communities growing their own food sustainably.

Food Innovation Rooted in Community

One thing we continue to learn: Food innovation is most powerful when it is local, practical, and inclusive.

From regenerative farming to hydroponics and circular gardens, FHE is supporting households—especially mothers—to grow nutritious food in limited spaces.

This is not just agriculture. It is nutrition, income, dignity, and climate action combined.

Nurture+ Kakuma: Where Health Meets Empowerment
Our flagship Nurture+ program continues to grow in reach and depth.
Through:

Kalobeyei Maternal Health hub

  1. Maternal health education
    2. Breastfeeding support
    3. Psychosocial care
    4. Hands-on micro-farming

1. Improved health awareness
2. Increased caregiver confidence
3. Stronger early childhood development outcomes

Despite challenges like attendance fluctuations and space limitations, community trust in the program remains strong.

Education That Heals and Builds Futures

Our learning programs are not just about academics—they are about healing and growth.

Recent outcomes show:

✔️ Behavioral issues reduced by 67%

✔️ Incidents reduced by 80%

✔️ Empathy levels nearly doubled

✔️ Problem-solving skills significantly improved

Parents are also becoming active partners, with 98% engagement in events—a powerful sign of community ownership.

🚧 Challenges We Are Addressing

While progress is strong, key barriers remain:

  • Limited farming tools and agricultural inputs

  • Delays in procurement systems

  • Incomplete infrastructure (water systems, sanitation)

  • Gaps in health equipment (e.g., BP machines)

  • Participation inconsistencies in some hubs

    These are not setbacks—they are clear signals of where support is needed next.

    What’s Next (March Priorities)

    We are focused on scaling impact through:

    • Installing hydroponic and water systems

    • Expanding health services with essential equipment

    • Launching a Girls Mentorship Program (50 girls)

    • Strengthening supervision across all hubs

    • Improving sanitation and waste management systems

    • Increasing access to farming tools and inputs
